While most mine bosses struggle to keep a single wash plant fed and operational, Parker Schnabel is actively trying to rewrite the rules of Yukon scale.

The latest development in Gold Rush Season 17 reveals that Parker is pushing his operation to an unprecedented, almost reckless level of production: he has set a staggering goal to run four wash plants simultaneously every single week.

To achieve this massive output, Parker’s crew cannot rely on new machinery alone. They have to pull every piece of viable heavy iron out of the boneyard. The first major hurdle in this ambitious expansion is the resurrection of Big Red, Parker's legendary 14-year-old wash plant. After a long, brutal winter hibernation, dragging a massive, aging piece of steel back to the active cut and getting it to spin is a massive mechanical challenge.

The crew immediately began the grueling process of moving the heavy feed hopper and setting Big Red up for its highly anticipated restart.

However, firing up 14-year-old heavy machinery rarely goes exactly according to plan. Almost immediately upon startup, the crew noticed a critical issue that threatened to derail the entire operation. Big Red was not getting enough water flowing over the sluice runs. In a wash plant, inadequate water flow is a death sentence for gold recovery; the heavy dirt simply buries the riffles, and the raw gold washes directly into the tailings pile.

Faced with the terrifying prospect of throwing gold away, mechanics Tyson and Alec rushed to diagnose the massive steel structure.

They quickly traced the water shortage to a mechanical failure in the spray bar. A critical ball valve had become physically jammed in the closed position, even though the exterior handle indicated it was fully open. This hidden blockage was starving the plant of the high-pressure water needed to wash the pay dirt.

Fortunately, the veteran mechanics were able to quickly replace the faulty valve and restore full water pressure to the spray bars. With the crisis averted and the water flowing, Big Red successfully roared back to life. This critical repair not only saved precious gold but brought Parker Schnabel one massive step closer to achieving his seemingly impossible four-plant masterplan.
