Breaking news: Police have found a note from 'Storage Wars' star Darrell Sheets addressed to a cyberbully

Darrell Sheets, a star of the long-running reality series “Storage Wars” who died by suicide in April, left a note at the scene of his death referencing cyberbullying, according to an incident report released this week by the Lake Havasu City Police Department.

Sheets, 67, was found dead at his Arizona home on April 22. In May, the police department said in a release that it had gotten confirmation from the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office that Sheets had died by suicide.

Police also said at the time that they were looking into “allegations of cyberbullying” in relation to Sheets’ case.

According to the incident report provided to NBC News on Thursday, police found a note hidden in a bathroom closet next to the room where Sheets was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

It was written in what appeared to be shaky handwriting and said, “I could not take anymore the Facebook bulling.”

Police also interviewed an alleged bully, according to the incident report.

Officials said the man was not cooperative and denied having anything to do with Sheets’ death. He said he was “nowhere near” Arizona when Sheets died.

He then told police he had been receiving death threats and refused to answer more questions, according to the report.

Police also spoke to Sheets’ girlfriend, who told officials that she interacted with him shortly before his death.

That night, after dinner, she said he was sitting in the garage and was texting his daughter-in-law, who told him that his girlfriend was “suspicious and that she was stealing money from” him.

His girlfriend told police he “was sad and upset” about the messages.

She told police she then left to pick up Sheets’ granddaughter from work at around 8 p.m. When she returned, she said, Sheets was in bed.

Later that night, she said, he got out of bed, waking his girlfriend. She went to look for him and found him in his office with what she believed to be a gun held to his head. She said he was crying and that he yelled at her to go back to bed.

She told police that she immediately thought “he was going to shoot himself.”

She said she tried to plead with him while backing away. She then said she heard one gunshot and called 911.

In a later interview with police, she said Sheets had been having trouble sleeping and that he was stressed out because he was “dealing with some issues with a male slandering his name.”

She also said Sheets and his son had “verbally fought over ‘family drama’” during a recent visit, which left Sheets “devastated.”

Sheets, originally from California, made a name for himself on the hit reality series “Storage Wars” as a regular cast member since its 2010 debut. On the show, he was known as “the gambler” for his ventures into risky auction bids.

The show is still on the air and follows teams of bidders who are on the hunt for abandoned and repurposed storage units that might hold items of value.

Some of Sheets’ former “Storage Wars” co-stars shared messages on Instagram shortly after his death.

Brandi Passante said she was “so very sorry, to hear the circumstances of his passing.”

“I unfortunately lost a parent and a brother to similar situations,” she said in a post. “I would like to say to everyone, if you are struggling, if you feel hopeless or like no one cares. I assure you they do!! You are not alone.”

Rene Nezhoda called him a “very hard worker” who “cared more than anyone I’ve ever met about his family.”

“He had a guy really, really tormenting him lately with cyberbullying,” Nezhoda said in a video. “You shouldn’t cyberbully at all. ... Because you never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through and what you might push them through.”

Nezhoda in the video also encouraged law enforcement to look into the alleged cyberbully.

Passante and Nezhoda did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Thursday.

According to Sheets’ bio on A&E — the network that airs the show — he was once known for pursuing the “big hit,” accumulating four Picasso pieces over the years at storage auctions. But he eventually moved away from collecting, the bio said, finding greater pride in the adventure itself.

‘Dutton Ranch’ Closes Out Season 1 With Death, Drugs & Disclosures

The Yellowstone spinoff closed out its debut season with a firefight, cartel involvement and cows with fentanyl being shipped across the border – exactly the kind of things you’d expect from Paramount+’s expanded universe.

What you might not have seen coming is exactly who perishes in Texas at the end of its initial nine-episode run on Paramount+.

[SPOILER ALERT] Beulah Jackson, played by Annette Bening, is mother to two men, Rob-Will Jackson, played by Jai Courtney, and Joaquin Jackson Reyes, played by Juan Pablo Raba.

In the first episode of the season, Rob-Will Jackson, the drug-crazed enforcer of her 10 Petal Ranch, finds himself on the wrong end of Rip’s fist and things don’t get much better towards the end of the season.

But did you expect him to be killed by his brother? That’s what it looks like.

During the episode, it emerges that Mariano Reyes, played by Raoul Max Trujillo, the father of Joaquin Jackson Reyes, is a cartel chief who is shipping fentanyl across the border in the bellies of cows.

Mariano has a long history with Beulah; he was meant to be chaperoning her to a honkytonk when she was much younger but got distracted and she was subsequently raped by a stranger. Mariano, who was her father’s ranch hand, helped her dispose of the body after she later killed the man and, being scared of her father, took the heat for the crime and was sent south of the border.

He’s now back in Rio Paloma with some demands.

After Beulah named Rob-Will to take over the family business over Joaquin, Mariano tells his son that he must kill his brother, and it appears that Joaquin drives to his house and shoots him to death. But did he?

This came moments after Rob-Will had a poignant moment with his wild-child daughter, played by Natalie Alyn Lind.

“This place eats what it loves and keeps the bones,” Rob-Will says.

“Why are you still here?” she asks. “Somebody got to stand in the doorway when the wolves show up,” he replies. “I know I haven’t been much of a father, I keep thinking I’m going to have the time to fix that but truth is I’m not gonna fix a damn thing. It just buries what’s broken. You are the only thing in this house that ain’t crooked. The one thing I ever did right.”

“Everything ok?,” she adds. “Everything’s fine, baby,” he concludes before he walks down the stairs to his death.

The cast is well aware that Sheridan shows like to kill off their main characters. Lind joked to US Weekly, “Nobody dies. Everybody dies… Oh, wait, they’re all dead.”

That could well be a possibility in future after Dutton Ranch was renewed for a second season.

Courtney won’t be off screens for long; he is starring in Blood on the Promontory, a Western drama from Warfare’s Ray Mendoza, and has upcoming projects including Netflix’s Protecting Jared from director Ruben Fleischer, comedic thriller The Very Best People, and writer-director Blaise Beyhan’s Callback.

Carter has never been the easiest character to love.

That may be exactly why his story is starting to matter so much.

When fans first met him inYellowstone, he was not a polished young cowboy waiting for his heroic moment.

He was a damaged kid.

Angry.

Lost.

Desperate to belong somewhere, even if he did not know how to ask for it.

That is what makes his journey inDutton Ranchso compelling.

The confirmed core of the spinoff centers on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler building a new life afterYellowstone, with Finn Little returning as Carter, the boy they took in and have continued trying to shape into a man.

But the viral framing around Carter should be handled carefully.

The idea that he is “becoming the cowboy he always dreamed of being” is an emotional interpretation, not a finished fact.

Episode 8 actually shows the opposite in many ways.

It shows just how far Carter still has to go.

InDutton RanchEpisode 8, Carter reaches a painful crossroads after quitting school, clashing with Beth and Rip, trying and failing to prove himself on the ranch, and struggling with the feeling that he does not know who he is supposed to become.

That is not a clean redemption moment.

‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 1 Ending Explained – A Dynamite Finale Raises the Stakes In Every Way

It was also obvious that between now and then, the show had to do something pretty drastic to raise the stakes. I had a suggestion for that, but Episode 9, “El Padrino”, has other ideas. Luckily, they’re pretty good ones, and the overall outcome is just about the same. Hopefully, with a serious blow to the head, Carter will be less annoying.

I definitely didn’t expect events to take quite this shape, though, and I certainly didn’t expect the closest thing we had to a Big Bad to be unceremoniously killed off-screen. These are good surprises, though, since they imply that Taylor Sheridan has more of a plan for this show than some of the previous episodes have suggested, and the way this finale builds anticipation for Season 2 should ensure that fans are tuning back in with real urgency, which is precisely what Paramount+ wants.

Thanks to Austin, Beth and Rip now know that the 10-Petal is smuggling cattle from Mexico illegally. Armed with this information, they siphon off suspect cows to be checked out by Everett, and when Rob-Will tries to stop them, Rip whoops him from pillar to post for the second time this season.

In a disappointing but not unexpected turn of events, Beulah is well aware of what’s going on. The major problem for Beth and Rip is that cows are the least of it. When Everett dips an arm into what seems like a recent spaying scar, he pulls it out clutching a wad of fentanyl. Overall, there were $2 million worth of drugs in the cattle. And somebody’s going to want the product back.

Furious, Everett confronts Beulah, who tells him about what happened to her back in the day with Rob-Will’s rapist father and Mariano helping her to dispose of the body. As it turns out, her father discovered what happened and blamed Mariano, making him take the heat and disappear to Mexico, leaving Joaquin behind as a ward to be raised by the Jacksons. Mariano’s wife was killed at the border. Years later, when Beulah stood to lose the ranch, Kino brought her an offer from his father, which was obviously the drug-running operation that has kept them afloat for the last 15 years. Everett, disgusted, tells her to leave.

Mariano’s Return

In the intervening years, Mariano has gone up in the world. He’s now a Cartel bigwig and arrives in Texas in a fleet of SUVs, in an extremely surly mood. Kino gives him the latest news about Beulah’s health woes, Rob-Will being gifted the ranch, and Beth and Rip being brought in to run it. Needless to say, Mariano isn’t thrilled.

Mariano visits Beulah and tells her in no uncertain terms to reinstate Kino and get rid of Rip and Beth. She barely has time to do that, though, since Beth and Rip are already knocking on doors, trying to figure out how much of a predicament they’re in. They visit the slaughterhouse and knock Tommy out before Beulah has time to make it to the Dutton Ranch and explain her point of view. Beth and Rip aren’t having it and send her on her way with the drugs.

This should be the end of it, but not quite. Rob-Will calls Mariano and tells him that Beth and Rip figured everything out, so Mariano calls Rip to tell him that he’s coming for the thieves, not the product. He also instructs Kino to kill Rob-Will, since he can tell immediately that he’s going to be a serious liability.

Carter Remains An Idiot

Speaking of liabilities, we have Carter, who spends the entire episode squatting at Dwight’s place and refusing to answer his phone, even though Beth and Rip both leave him voicemails implying that something pretty serious is going on at home. It’s eventually Oreana who tracks him down, as well she might, since she’s pregnant, presumably with his child.

Oreana doesn’t mention this, though. Instead, she tells him to give Beth a quick call to set her mind at ease, and then suggests the two of them run away together. There is nothing about Carter’s demeanour that suggests he’d be ready for this step, but he agrees anyway because he’s a sucker, and he spends the rest of the finale continuing not to answer his phone while Oreana goes home to pack.

Assault On Dutton Ranch

Elsewhere, Rip, Beth, Zach, and Azul tool up to defend the ranch against the coming Cartel assassins. Carter still isn’t answering, so Beth heads out to look for him, but luckily, Everett arrives to lend an assist in her stead.The gunmen arrive and are quite easily gunned down by Team Dutton. Azul takes a bullet to the arm, but Everett’s sharpshooting makes the whole thing pretty easy. Rip chases down the sole survivor in his truck in a scene framed to look like something out of Transformers, and drags him to the barn where he can be tortured and interrogated. All the other bodies are dumped in the same place Wes was.

A Couple of Cliffhangers Set Up Season 2

The ending of Dutton Ranch takes some pretty big swings. In the first, while Oreana is packing her things, Rob-Will has a surprisingly open conversation with her that finally lends him a bit of humanity. Naturally, he then leaves the room and is killed off-camera by Joaquin, at Mariano’s behest (we’re to assume, anyway, but I don’t see who else it could have been). Eventually, Beulah returns home and is horrified to find her son dead in the foyer, her granddaughter wailing at his side, covered in his blood.

Elsewhere, the Cartel — somehow — catches up with Carter. They bonk him over the head and snatch him as a hostage, so the finale ends with Mariano giving Beth a call to let her know that he has her boy. He’s trying to bait her and Rip out, and per Beth’s own admission, he’s going the right way about it.

“He was like a pillar. [He was] stellar, he was strong. He reminds me of his father so much,” Darrell’s Storage Wars costar Laura Dotson exclusively told Us Weekly of Brandon’s presence at the memorial service held at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, California on Monday, June 29. “He has a lot of the same anecdotes and funny things that he does. He also says, ‘That’s the wow factor, baby,’ and when he does that it sounds just like Darrell in the room.”

Laura, who attended the event alongside husband Dan Dotson, also shared that Brandon, 42, spoke about the impact that Darrell had on him.

“He got to talk about him being a wonderful father, grandfather and friend, and how much Darrell really helped him through his life, becoming the man that he is, and the father that he is,” Laura recalled.

Brandon shares two kids with his wife, Melissa. In addition to Brandon, Darrell was father to daughter Tiffany, who has a daughter named Zoie, 22. Before his death, Darrell helped raise Zoie, who was in attendance for the memorial.

“She seems to be doing really well. She has so much support,” Laura, 58, said of Zoie. “All of Darrell’s sisters were there, [his] brothers were there, family members were there, his cousins were there and they all kind of look like him. His friends look like him.”

Darrell’s ex-wife Kimber Wuerfel, whom was with from 2011 to 2016, also attended the service. According to Laura and Dan, Wuerfel was “right up at the front” and “so accommodating” with Darrell’s family.

“Everybody was so concerned for her and her health, but she looked strong,” Laura said of Wuerfel. “She was just attending to everybody, and just full of love and stories, and saying, ‘Share, share the story of Darrell,’ and [it was] bringing her comfort I could see, so that was really, really wonderful.”

Kimber also spoke at Darrell’s celebration, recalling the good times the pair shared together.

“I did see tears and breakdowns from all of them,” Laura said of all the speeches made in honor of Darrell. “Everybody would be hugging and praying and lifting Darrell up again, and then they would start laughing at something somebody would say, so it was tears of joy and happiness, and [they were] talking about, ‘We know that Darrell is with God. We know he’s in heaven,’ and just the feeling that you know that they know that he’s there, so they can have peace.”

Earlier this year, Us confirmed that Darrell died at age 67. His death was ruled a suicide by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office in Arizona.

“Just before he passed away, I heard, he lost 40 pounds, and that he was wanting to get really healthy and in shape,” Laura, 58, told Us Weekly exclusively. “[He] was preparing for his birthday party in May, and he had a huge big soiree planned.”

Laura said that Sheets’ death was “just out of the blue” because of his future plans.

Sheets, who was a fixture on Storage Wars for 13 years, died by suicide this past April. He was 67.

The late reality star was remembered during a celebration of life ceremony in Huntington Beach on Monday, June 29.

Dan, 63, told Us that “a lot of the cast members were there” — both “old and new” — to celebrate Sheets. People from the A&E production team were also in attendance.

“People got up and they got to share their stories,” Laura added. There were also 67 doves released during the event, which she said was “pretty spectacular.” The number of birds was a symbol of how old Sheets was when he died.

“They did a wonderful slide show for him, showing him from a child to an adult and just celebrating his life,” Laura said, noting that there was a donut bar to pay homage to his “favorite thing.”

Attendees also wore casual clothes to honor Sheets.

“A lot of people showed up in their tank tops, and they said, ‘You know, Darrell wore tank tops, so if you love Darrell, just dress comfortably like he always did.’ I even had my tank top on, but I had a blouse over the top,” Laura recalled. “People were showing their tank tops and doing Darrell and yelling out ‘The wow factor’ and stuff like that.”

There was also a photo booth and an album where attendees could share “life stories” and “wonderful” messages for Sheets.

“There [were] a few of those books being passed around that people were filling up and taking photos of themselves and put them in there, which was fun,” Laura continued. “There was an entire area all the way down the entire ballroom of Darrell’s collectibles, things that he did, stories, fun things that people go, ‘Oh, I remember this on the show.’”

As expected, Laura told Us that the entire event was an emotional affair — especially for his family. (Sheets was a father to son Brandon and daughter Tiffany.)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a major change is underway behind the scenes for Dutton Ranch season 2. The outlet reported on April 24 that creator/executive producer Chad Feehan had exited the series. Cole shared his two cents about the change in a separate THR interview.

“Showrunners change all the time,” Cole noted in an article published on June 24. “This business is about adapting. We’ve been doing this for a long time. Things change. People move on.”

Despite the switch-up, fans learned on June 30 that SEAL Team creator Benjamin Cavell is stepping in as showrunner for season 2.

“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history, and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world,” stated Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, per Deadline. “We’re also incredibly grateful to our partners, including the teams at Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for bringing this new series to life with such grit, heart, and authenticity.”

The police told TMZ that Sheets, 67, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at his Lake Havasu home.

“Extra” spoke with Dave after Darrell died. He said over the years, they would check in on each other amid their own health issues.

Dave shared, “I do recall when he had his heart attack, I texted him to say, ‘Hey, I’m sorry to hear that you lived,’ just jokingly with him. He goes, ‘Yes, I did, and I’ll be here to see you’ and then a few months later, I had a kind of little brain bleed and he texted me and said, ‘Hey, I guess we’re going to end up being roommates in that convalescent hospital or something.’"

Hester said he was praying for Darrell’s family amid the tragedy, saying, “I hope they can get through this and we just pray for them.”

‘Dutton Ranch’ Finale: Juan Pablo Raba Warns ‘People Will Die’

Dutton Ranch‘s first season saw biz-savvy Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her soulmate husband, cowboy/ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), try to start fresh. Too bad they escaped one deadly family feud only to get caught up in another at the 10-Petal Ranch, where both are now working.

The clan’s clash escalated in the seventh episode after ranch matriarch Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening) shocked everyone by passing the leadership to her degenerate son Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) instead of steady, responsible Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba). Beulah had planned to give the reins to “Kino,” as she calls her favorite child, but Rob-Will vowed to kill his brother if she did that.

“Beulah will regret this deeply, unfortunately,” Raba says. “That decision will change the Jackson life forever.”

The actor also promises a battle between the brothers. “It’s been a long time coming,” he says. “[It gets] bad, really, really bad.” Just how bad? “There will be plenty of action — this is Dutton Ranch — and people will die,” Raba teases. If that’s not enough action for you, Raba also reveals that a new character will swagger through the gates of the 10-Petal and “comes to rock everyone’s world.” The new face is Mariano Reyes (Raoul Trujillo), whose younger self we’ve seen in flashbacks. We see him in the teaser.

No matter which brother comes out on top, Raba emphasizes that Beth and Rip are survivors. “[They] are always playing chess, so they know that no matter who runs the 10-Petal, they will still have to be on their top game.” After the chaos, Raba says, “Fans will just want to see Beth and Rip take care of it…but will they be able to?”

Let’s hope both families can rely on the next generation, Carter (Finn Little) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind), whose romance this season caused its own kind of chaos but also challenged both teens to do some growing up.

As for progress into solving the murders of ranch hand Wes Ayers (Nakoa DeCoite) and unconventional rancher Dwight White (the always excellent Ray McKinnon, gone too soon!), Raba says, cheekily, “What murders?” It’s clear that when Dutton Ranch returns for Season 2 with a just-announced new showrunner and executive producer, Benjamin Cavell (SEAL Team, Justified, The Stand), there will be plenty of ammo to keep this hit series firing.
